Lễ bốc thăm vòng sơ loại diễn ra ngày 3 tháng 7 năm 2012 tại Hampden Park, Glasgow.[4]

Vòng này có sự tham gia của các đội sau:

• 15 đội SFA từ Highland Football League: (Brora Rangers, Buckie Thistle, Clachnacuddin, Deveronvale, Formartine United, Fort William, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Inverurie Loco Works, Keith, Lossiemouth, Nairn County, Rothes, Turriff United và Wick Academy)
• 12 đội SFA từ East of Scotland League: (Burntisland Shipyard, Civil Service Strollers, Coldstream, Edinburgh City, Edinburgh University, Gala Fairydean, Hawick Royal Albert, Preston Athletic, Selkirk, Spartans, Vale of Leithen, Whitehill Welfare)
• 4 đội SFA từ South of Scotland League: (Newton Stewart, St Cuthbert Wanderers, Threave Rovers, Wigtown & Bladnoch)
• 3 đội SFA từ các giải khác: (Girvan, Glasgow University, Golspie Sutherland)
• 4 đội giành quyền từ Scottish Junior Football Association: (Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, Hermes, Irvine Meadow, Shotts Bon Accord)

34 đội được đi tiếp ở vòng Một.
